Terms of Service

These terms are a binding agreement between you and the operator of poser5 (“we”, “us”). By opening the player or redeeming an access code you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

1. What the service is

poser5 is a browser-based 3D character poser and animation player. It loads model files you supply (glTF/GLB, VRM, MMD PMX/PMD, FBX, OBJ), lets you pose them with inverse kinematics, record and retarget animations, play MMD motion files, and view the result in WebXR. The software ships with no character models.

Rendering, posing, physics, file parsing and recording all happen locally in your browser. We provide the web page, the access gate and the hosting; we do not provide, host or moderate the character content you choose to load.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to use poser5. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement, and your use must be lawful where you are.

The tool itself is content-neutral — it is equally suited to ordinary games, animation and illustration work — but because every model, motion and mini-game is supplied by you or by the community, what appears on screen is not rated or moderated by us. The 18+ requirement reflects that, not the software.

3. Access, subscriptions and billing

• Access to the player is granted to holders of an active subscription to our project on SubscribeStar, or to holders of a valid access code.
• All payment is handled by SubscribeStar, not by us. We never see or store your card details. Subscription pricing, renewal, cancellation, refunds and tax are governed by SubscribeStar's own terms and by the tier you chose there.
• Cancel or change your subscription on SubscribeStar. Access ends when the subscription stops being active; an already-issued session may continue to work until it expires (up to the configured session lifetime, by default 7 days).
• We may change the tiers that qualify for access, or the feature set behind them, going forward. We will not retroactively bill you for a change.

4. Access codes

Tester access codes are personal, non-transferable and may carry a use limit, an expiry date, or both. Do not publish or resell a code. We may revoke any code at any time, including for sharing, automated redemption attempts, or abuse of the service. Attempting to guess, brute-force or enumerate codes is prohibited and is rate-limited.

5. Your models and content

You keep every right you already hold in the files you load. We claim no licence over them, because they never reach us — they are opened from your disk by your browser.

You are solely responsible for having the right to use the models, textures, motions and audio you load, and for complying with their licences. Many community models carry restrictions on modification, commercial use, adult depiction or redistribution. Honouring those is your obligation, not ours.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service to create or depict sexual content involving minors, or any material that is illegal to produce or possess where you are;
• use the service to harass, defame or impersonate a real person, including by making likeness-based content of someone without their consent;
• circumvent, probe or attack the access gate, the session cookie, the code endpoint or the hosting infrastructure;
• share your session, credentials or access code to give unauthorised people access;
• scrape, resell, rehost or redistribute the application bundle or any part of it;
• overload the service with automated traffic.

7. Our intellectual property

The poser5 application, its source code, interface and branding remain ours or our licensors'. Your subscription buys a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the hosted application. It does not transfer ownership, and it does not grant a right to copy, decompile beyond what applicable law allows, or create a competing service from it. Third-party open-source components remain under their own licences.

8. Third-party services

Sign-in runs through SubscribeStar, and hosting and edge functions run on Cloudflare Pages. Their terms and privacy policies apply to the parts they handle. We are not responsible for their availability or their acts.

9. Beta software, no warranty

poser5 is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Features may change or be removed. The service may be interrupted. Browser-side work — posing, auto-rigging, physics, recording — can fail or produce unexpected results on an unusual rig, and can consume significant memory and GPU time. Keep your own backups of anything you value; work held only in a browser tab can be lost.

WebXR involves a headset and physical movement. Use it in a clear space and stop if you feel unwell. You use it at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost data, lost work or lost profits. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for access in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time; sign out to clear your session. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for abuse, or where required by law. Because your content lives on your own machine, termination does not delete your files.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update this page. The “last updated” date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be flagged on the landing page or through the subscription channel. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms are governed by the law of the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without depriving a consumer of the protection of their local mandatory law.

Privacy Policy

13. Scope

This policy covers the poser5 website, its access gate and its player. It does not cover SubscribeStar, whose own policy governs your account and payments there.

14. What we collect

Deliberately little. There is no user database and no server-side profile: the session cookie itself is the record, and it is signed rather than stored.

We do not run advertising or third-party analytics, we do not sell or share personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles. We never receive your SubscribeStar password or payment details. An OAuth access token from SubscribeStar is used once, in memory, to check your subscription, and is not stored.

15. What stays on your device

Model, motion and audio files you open are read by your browser and processed locally. They are not uploaded to our servers, not proxied, and not inspected. Poses, animations and settings you save are kept in your browser's own storage on your machine. Clearing site data removes them, and we cannot recover them.

If you pair a phone as a companion device, the two devices exchange the connection details needed to establish a direct peer-to-peer link and then the scene data flows between your devices, not through a content server.

16. Cookies

Only strictly necessary cookies are set. There are no tracking cookies.

• p5s — the signed session that proves access. HttpOnly. Expires with the session (7 days by default, or the length attached to an access code).
• p5oauth — a short-lived value used to protect the SubscribeStar sign-in round-trip against cross-site request forgery. Deleted as soon as sign-in finishes.

17. Processors and international transfers

Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the edge functions, and may process requests at a data centre near you anywhere in its global network. SubscribeStar processes your identity and payments. Both act as independent controllers or processors under their own policies, and transfers rely on their respective safeguards.

18. Retention

Session cookies expire on their own and are gone when they do — nothing is retained on our side afterwards. Rate-limit counters expire after one hour. Access code records persist while the code exists so that its limits can be enforced. Cloudflare's logs follow Cloudflare's retention schedule.

19. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Since we hold almost nothing:

• signing out, or clearing site data, removes the session and everything in it;
• your models and saved poses are already under your sole control on your device;
• to have an access code record deleted, or to make any other request, reach us through the contact channel below.

The lawful basis for processing the session data is performance of the contract between us (giving you the access you subscribed to); for rate limiting and security logs, it is our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and unabused.

20. Children

The service is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly process their data. If you believe a minor has used the service, tell us and the access will be removed.
